Privacy Policy

FetchCast (“the app”) is a real-time weather, wind, and water dashboard for a curated set of lakes. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

The short version: FetchCast does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information, and your location never leaves your device.

Information we collect

None. FetchCast has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. We — the developer — receive no data about you.

Location

FetchCast asks for “While Using the App” location access. Your location is used only on your device, for:

Your GPS position is never sent to us or to any third party. The weather, alert, forecast, and water-level requests the app makes are keyed to the fixed published coordinates of the selected lake’s dam, not to your location. Location access is never used in the background; you can decline it and still use the dashboard.

Network requests

To show live conditions, the app requests public data from these providers, using the selected lake’s fixed coordinates:

As with any internet request, these providers can see the network metadata inherent to the connection (such as your IP address) and handle it under their own privacy policies. FetchCast sends them no account identifiers, no device identifiers, and no personal information. The optional home-screen widgets refresh from these same feeds under the same rules.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following locally, on your device only; none of it is transmitted to us:

The conditions cache and lake selection live in a private container shared only between FetchCast and its own home-screen widgets (an iOS “app group”), so widgets can show the same data as the dashboard. That container stays on your device like everything else.

Notifications are generated on your device by iOS; there is no push server and no remote notification service.

Lakes and lake requests

FetchCast currently covers Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, Monroe Lake, Norris Lake, Douglas Lake, Cherokee Lake, Watts Bar Lake, Old Hickory Lake, and Percy Priest Lake. You may request additional lakes by emailing feedback@fetchcastapp.com; new lakes are prioritized based on user demand. A lake request contains only what you choose to put in your email, and we use it only to gauge interest and plan coverage.

Children

FetchCast is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Safety notice

FetchCast is an informational aid, not a safety or navigation device. It relies on third-party data that may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Always verify conditions with official sources and use your own judgment. In an emergency, call 911 or use a VHF marine radio.
